Pipe ramming is an excellent cost effective alternative for placing casing under railroads, finished landscapes and structures. It is often the method of choice in cobble or free flowing soil conditions. Iowa Trenchless has personnel and equipment capable of a number of pipe installation sizes. Iowa Trenchless can pipe ram sizes ranging 12 inches to 120 inches in diameter.

This picture is from an 84" crossing under the Union Pacific Railroad in Arizona. As you can see in the picture, the material is granular, and there is very little cover over the top of the casing. It for that reason that Pipe Ramming was the chosen installation method on this crossing.
